HERWINGT, an innovative wing for the future Hybrid-Electric Regional Aircraft

​The HERWINGT Innovative Wing Design for Hybrid-Electric Regional Aircraft project kicked off with the meeting held at AIRBUS Defense in Getafe (Madrid). The project is funded by the European Union under the Clean Aviation program and involves 28 partners from 11 countries. The main focus is the design of an innovative wing for the future Hybrid-Electric Regional Aircraft.

As part of the project, CIRA will be involved in the following tasks: aero-structural design of a high-aspect ratio wing in order to maximise the aerodynamic performances in both cruise and landing/takeoff; development of a flap by the 'morphing' technology in order to improve aircraft performances in landing/takeoff conditions; design, realisation and experimental analysis of a compliant morphing flap for an hybrid electric aircraft.
